Steam & Excursion > NNRY Winter Photoshoot Weekend One

Hello everyone, I am an on again, off again Train Orders member who never posts. I work as a photographer and volunteer at the Nevada Northern who assists the railroad with their winter photo charters. We just finished up our first weekend of winter charter season and now seems as good a time as any to introduce myself and share a few photos from the event. While we are light on snow in Ely this year, the cold temps and clear skies provided plenty of opportunity for NNRY 93 to put on a show for everyone who attended.

In addition to helping select and organize run-by locations, I have taken over the production of the night photo session from long time friend of the railroad Steve Crise. I was fortunate to meet Steve at the NNRY and assist him for several years before taking over from him (he still attends the shoots; he smiles more now that the gear is not his resposibility). Our night shoot this year was staged at the Cherry Creek depot which is preserved on the grounds of the White Pine Public Museum. Trackage to the museum was restored by the NNRY in 2023 allowing trains to visit the musuem grounds for the first time in over 60 years.

He will. Ben very capably assisted with and led many parts of the weekend I attended last year, including the marvelous night photo session. Steve Crise has done a fine job all these years, and did last year as well. But the event will be in capable hands with Ben. Not only in design, but in execution. He's a very engaging, open and friendly person, enjoyable to be with, and technically very competent.

Congrats, Ben, and best of luck in your new leadership role. The excellent images you posted will surely be the herald for much fine work to come.

Great pictures. I was there and rode the train (#93 was the locomotive) & took the shop tour in 2018. Got a picture of Dirt the cat in the shop area.
