Spa Valley Railway - BR Standard Class 4 2-6-4 Tank 80078
Author: Rattie

This clip is from a 30742 Charter on the Spa Valley Railway and features British Railways Standard Class 4 2-6-4 Tank No. 80078. One hundred fifty-five engines of this type were built, with 15 surviving in preservation. 80078 entered service from Brighton Works on 2nd February 1954 and was allocated to Plaistow shed for the London, Tilbury and Southend Line, working commuter services out of London until that route was electrified in 1962. After being transferred to Wrexham in Wales, the loco was withdrawn in 1965.

Sounds nice and square.
BTW, is there a published list of British whistle signals from steam days?

Interesting question.  I wasn't aware there was, but a quick Google search threw up this.

Pretty nice. What fuel do they use, since GB has reportedly outlawed coal?

Coal burners. Heritage lines are exempt from some rules.
