I'm not a subscriber to the magazine, but I'd like to know
which engine is the subject of the headline and the article...

( To me, that title belongs to 4449, from 1975...).

Wes, the article is about the CP 2816 and their impending tri-country romp....I have been finding my subscription to Railfain & Railroad is well worth it.  Arlen

Technically the Friends of SP 4449 did the loan, but yeah, generally correct.

This is one of the best-written and most comprehensively researched pieces of railroad literature appearing anywhere since the David P. Morgan era.

Justin Franz knocked it out of the ballpark with the Empress article, as well as a shorter piece on the CP's G5s.

From Justin's cover photo to A.J. Shewan's "parting shot," including the aforementioned articles about CPR 2816 and G5s, plus Ron Flanary's look back at CPR 2839's excursion adventures on the Southern Railway, Steve Barry's "Canadians at Strasburg," and Jim Shaughnessy's photos from Eastern Canada in the 1950s, the April 2024 Railfan & Railroad is a treasure.
