With spring on the way I thought I'd look back at our events from February.  

This year was my 17th year helping to run the Nevada Northern Railway Winter Steam Spectacular events, as well as co-hosting the Winter Photo Workshop weekend along my long time partner in photography Steve Crise as well as Ben Kuhns, who is taking over for Steve in the area of strobe lighting setups and class instruction.
 
Here is a highlight reel of images from the two weekends that I was present.   This year Locomotive #93 was our active engine.  We also had the steam wreck crane in operation, as well as the 1956 Pontiac Chieftan Hyrailer.  A great time was had by all and we had a lot of weather variety this year, with sun and then a light snow dump on the third weekend.     
 
New this year, the track between East Ely and the White Pine Public Museum has been restored, opening up a new location in the form of the former Cherry Creek Depot, which was moved to the White Pine Museum in the 90s.  We were able to bring the locomotive down to the museum and arrange the shot from the station master’s desk with the engine simmering outside.    In addition, the cosmetically restored Rotary Snow Plow was brought out for some run-by locations in the East Ely Yard.
 
There’s always something new happening at the Nevada Northern and I think that’s what keeps people (including myself) coming back year after year. 
 
A visit to the National Historic Landmark is highly recommended; there is 30 miles of preserved mainline as well as the East Ely yard complex, with 60 historic buildings and miles of track, all original.

Marvelous variety on the Nevada Northern Railway.  Thanks for your efforts keeping this annual winter steam opportunity open to us.

Fantastic series of photos...composition and lighting are top notch...these shots could easily be in a book or on a calendar...great work.

Great googly moogly, those are some of the best images I've seen in 50 years of railfanning. I've got to hit the Nevada Northern after I move back to the mainland. Thank you for sharing.

Actually, those are ore loading ramps. For loading ore from dump trucks.

Great photo album! Especially that last shot of 93 being put away under the watchful eye of her crew. I need to get out there again.
