I wonder what Disneyland pays now with minimum wage at $20.00? Kind of surprised they still have a steam train. Surprised, but happy to hear it. /Mitch Date: 04/02/24 15:22 Re: Disney World is hiring for a steam train mechanic Author: wcamp1472 The starting pay, if you have all their 'asks' is pittance..
It ought to be $80 to $120/hr, to attract a capable person, as they're looking for & who meets those 'requirements'. $28/hr? Gimme a Break ! W. in similar locales. Out Date: 04/02/24 15:37 Re: Disney World is hiring for a steam train mechanic Author: PacificElectric1961 Transit guy here. Lots of requirements that match-up with a transit bus mechanic. Wages seem very low, even for Florida.
Date: 04/02/24 15:42 Re: Disney World is hiring for a steam train mechanic Author: CDTX You are all comparing the wage to bus mechanics and other heavy industrial jobs. Try comparing them to what tourist railroads are paying and I bet you'll find it's not far off.

And unlike tourist railroad working to make ends meet and running steam often for the love of running steam, it's another story. Di$ney. Owners of VICE Media. I would hope that Disney could afford some dedicated track workers instead of using the steam shop guys to replace ties and broken rails.

Your Mouse sucks wind! If you vermin wanted to hire a really talented steam person, you wouldn't offer such cheesy wages. -John Date: 04/03/24 18:33 Re: Disney World is hiring for a steam train mechanic Author: Lackawanna484 Disney may be spoiled by the relatively low wages paid on their cruise ships to crew members from Indonesia, Philippines, Montenegro, Kenya, etc.

Date: 04/04/24 06:22 Re: Disney World is hiring for a steam train mechanic Author: wcamp1472 Boiler explosions had been typically caused by low-water
conditions, as a result of operating crews' actions, or lack thereof. Boiler explosions caused by "poor maintenance" have not been often reported. However, there is often a link between poor maintenance practices and poor operating practices ....and poor training provided. W. |
