IIRC the 2024 schedule was never to include Southern California. Date: 04/07/24 22:05 Re: Is 4014 bypassing Southern California upcoming trip? Author: Yog-Sothoth I know they planned on running over donner a year or so ago but had to cancel the trip, and this makes up for that. However I cannot help but find irony in the fact that they are calling this a "four corners" trip, when they are skipping a corner!

Would make sense to take it to Los Angeles and then across the southwest to Texas. Summer across the Sunset Route. That would be hot! Author: callum_out The LA area is such a disaster as far as viewer participation, be surprised if UP wanted any part of that-again.
I doubt thar Donner will be any better but it's a pick your poison thing and Roseville would be a good place to "address" the "employees". Out Edited 2 time(s). Yes thanks for that Yog. You reminded me about that "4 corners" thing is really why I posted this question. Maybe they are thinking "4 Trapezoid corners"?😀 Jim Baker Riverside, CA Date: 04/08/24 15:05 Re: Is 4014 bypassing Southern California upcoming trip? Author: NSDTK Probably cant pass the required emissions test at the border.

Yeah, that joke is pretty tired. For as much as 'one side' likes to bash the Golden State, if it were an independent nation its economy would beat England and maybe even India, depending on where you get your info. They must be doing a bunch of things right. Posted from Android Date: 04/08/24 22:11 Re: Is 4014 bypassing Southern California upcoming trip? Author: railstiesballast I think it is a "Debt of Honor" to visit Southern California because it was the local chapter of RLHS that transferred the 4014 back to the UP. They did not have to do it, but it was believed that it would be in better hands, and more people could see it if they traded it away. IIRC there were vague promises that it would make an appearance some time.

Even ran a "fund raising" one way excursion over Cajon, with bus return. Date: 04/09/24 07:23 Re: Is 4014 bypassing Southern California upcoming trip? Author: goneon66 A-1 Wrote:

California was graced by God with a great geographic location, a mostly mild climate, beautiful scenery a large amount of natural resources and it's one of the greatest places on earth to grow fruits and vegetables. Neither the citizenry or the government of California can take much credit for ANY of those natural advantages over most other states. It has become a self perpetuating economic force based primarily on its large population and the above natural advantages. In my opinion, properly run, California's economy could be exponentially larger, and they are currently doing their best to slaughter the golden goose. Posted from iPhone Date: 04/09/24 08:34 Re: Is 4014 bypassing Southern California upcoming trip? Author: NSDTK Its only a matter of time before they start emissions testing locomotives as they enter California. As it is there are certain locomotives banished from California. Even some modern ES44s from BNSF can not go into California anymore. All Semis entering the state are emissions tested where they entire the border at.
