T&P 610 on the Freedom Train in Navasota,Tx
Author: gcm

Feb 1976
610 is southbound and just departing the stop in Navasota.
It is on the SP/MP and will proceed on the track (Missouri Pacific) behind the control box and head to Houston.
In the first image I am standing on the SP Houston line with the Santa Fe Sommerville route just ahead.
The very nice Houston & Texas Central station is to the left.
The control box marked 41 was the site of Tower 41 which may have been decommissioned in the late 20's.
610 earlier had arrived in Austin running light and took over the train from SP 4449.
Lots of changes - no more code lines, searchlight signals and unfortunately the station was razed soon after.

Two first-rate scenes - In the second photo, the shadow detail on 610 is interesting.

Very nice photos of an engine that only pulled the Freedom Train in Texas.

Nice to see the IGN Depot was still standing back then.
