Steam & Excursion > CP 2816 in Kicking Horse Canyon 2003Date: 04/17/24 23:41 CP 2816 in Kicking Horse Canyon 2003 Author: cp1400 Exactly one week from today the first public event to mark the start of CPKC's "Final Spike Anniversary Steam Tour" will be underway in Calgary. Following this event, on April 26, CP 2816 "The Empress" embarks on an epic three country tour through parts of Canada, USA and ending in Mexico City on June 04. To remind everyone of how great it was to see this engine run, here are some scenes from October 2003 when she ran a private charter eastbound through the Kicking Horse Canyon.

I lived in Vancouver for five years, but never got to Kicking Horse Pass. I see the railroad follows the Kicking Horse River from the confluence with the Columbia River at Golden upriver to Field, the Spiral Tunnels, and the river's namesake pass. It all looks pretty on a map as well as in your video. I'll have to go there in real life sometime... https://opentopomap.org/#map=12/51.2895/-116.6597 https://caltopo.com/map.html#ll=51.32729,-116.53061&z=12&b=t Ted in OR Date: 04/19/24 17:50 Re: CP 2816 in Kicking Horse Canyon 2003 Author: redberan4449 Great reminder of how much I have enjoyed these photographers' specials.
