The Rio Grande 340 came from the California amusement operation.   Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW) sold 340 in 1952 to the Knott's Berry Farm amusement park in Buena Park, CA

So is this engine being repaired here?  Or did Knotts Berry Farm sell it back or donate?

Repaired.  If anything like the 41, it will be a complete frame off restoration.   I've seen photos of the 41's separated boiler floating outside the Durango roundhouse during it's time here.  Big Diehl had a good few videos on the tube of 41 during the shake down runs before returning to Knotts.
