Steam & Excursion > Hawaii Railway #5 in ConnecticutDate: 04/29/24 06:07 Hawaii Railway #5 in Connecticut Author: cjvrr The Connecticut Antique Machinery Association had their narrow gauge Hawaii Railway Company #5 under steam this weekend for some trips on their 1,000 foot or so of track.
https://camamuseum.org/ They plan to have it out at least two more weekends this year. One of the only places I have been that allows passengers to ride on the tender. The CAMA website is undergoing some revisions so the history of the engine is not currently on their site. But you can find out more about it here; https://steamgiants.com/survivors/operating/hawaii-railway-5/ Date: 04/29/24 08:04 Re: Hawaii Railway #5 in Connecticut Author: callum_out That little engine has more truck and ship miles than rail miles, been to some interesting places
and to end up in Connecticut is pretty unreal. Out Date: 04/29/24 10:58 Re: Hawaii Railway #5 in Connecticut Author: boejoe Caboose is also interesting.
jb Date: 04/29/24 12:04 Re: Hawaii Railway #5 in Connecticut Author: cjvrr That is a real caboose from the Tionesta Valley Railway. It is undergoing restoration and currently sits on shop trucks.
I helped push it back in the barn when the day was over....second time hand pushing a caboose for me. First time was back in 1985 or 1986 when a bunch or railfans were asked to push a Susquehanna caboose at Sparta Junction around the engine. boejoe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Caboose is also interesting. > jb Date: 04/29/24 12:10 Re: Hawaii Railway #5 in Connecticut Author: refarkas What a beauty!
Bob Date: 04/29/24 13:52 Re: Hawaii Railway #5 in Connecticut Author: Frisco1522 She's a cutie! What does she burn? I'm seeing all those handrails on the tender makes me think of a woodburner.
Date: 04/29/24 16:21 Re: Hawaii Railway #5 in Connecticut Author: PlyWoody Does anyone know of some archbar trucks that CAMA could buy? Need 24 diameter wheels good for passengers. Have worn out SS&S log truck with worn wheels to trade.
Also need a automatic air brake control stand for train line brakes. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/30/24 06:04 by PlyWoody. Date: 04/30/24 05:51 Re: Hawaii Railway #5 in Connecticut Author: cjvrr Built as and still is an oil burner.
