Is it just me or does the engineer only use the air operated whistle valve for almost every crossing? It sounds horrible.

Author: sierrawestern Does anyone know if 2816 is carrying a GPS unit and if the GPS location is available to the public through a cell phone?
I'm assuming all locomotives these days are fitted with GPS so the dispatchers can bring the train up on a screen and know where it's at. It would sure be easier to track the steam train's progress. Thank you in advance if you know. Date: 05/02/24 10:27 Re: 4-6-4 2816 coverage? Author: HotWater sierrawestern Wrote:

That is probably part of the PTC system. Thus, the "public" would not be able to view it. > It would sure be easier to track the steam train's > progress. Remember, 2816 is fully equipped with PTC. > Thank you in advance if you know. Date: 05/02/24 11:17 Re: 4-6-4 2816 coverage? Author: Hillcrest It was arriving in Humboldt Minnesota (don'tchaknow) about 90 minutes ago if that's any help. If there is no GPS tracking available, FB has a pretty good handle on the wanderings, Epic Wanderings one might say, of the 2816...
Cheers, Dave Date: 05/02/24 14:48 Re: 4-6-4 2816 coverage? Author: MaryMcPherson The plan for months has been to shoot it next week, and I have the vacation time to do it. And then effing Union County sent a jury summons. Needless to say, I am PISSED!
Sure, guys. You really WANT someone on your panel whose vacation you just blew up. Mary McPherson Dongola, IL Diverging Clear Productions Edited 1 time(s). Author: gobbl3gook Mary, if you have a professional reason to be watching the 2816 you should be able to defer your jury duty.
