P. S. Sure is nice seeing her running solo the way it was meant to be. Date: 08/30/24 19:15 Re: Ed After a Long Day’s Work Author: holiwood He is enjoying his work
Thanks for all you are doing Date: 08/30/24 20:39 Re: Ed After a Long Day’s Work Author: Hillcrest That's one cool Hickory Shirt!
Cheers, Dave Date: 08/30/24 22:00 Re: Ed After a Long Day’s Work Author: ConductorsSon So apparently after several years of Ed's success all of the Ed "Hater" have left the TO site, thank goodness. Whatever he is as a person and manager he has done quite a job of putting that locomotive back into service and running it around the country on behalf of the UP and train fans of all ages time after time with little or no downtime to faults or breakdowns, quite an accomplishment - oh and he's even shared his email.
Hope he can get the Challenger up and steaming again. Highball 103 Date: 08/31/24 00:11 Re: Ed After a Long Day’s Work Author: wcamp1472 Challenger with new owner, is now at Silvis Shops, the 1472-day mandatory boiler

It may also come as a surprise to some that the Union Pacific operated several variations of a "Challenger" named passenger train from the mid-thirties to the early seventies. Now, "just how much" is everyone following all of this Union Pacific history? Date: 08/31/24 09:14 Re: Ed After a Long Day’s Work Author: bankshotone grizzledgary Wrote:

Thanks for posting the history lesson. Date: 08/31/24 09:22 Re: Ed After a Long Day’s Work Author: RailRat I still (and always have) got 3985 and 6936 mixed up sometimes in my old brain when I post a video of either one, even though one is a disel and the other is a steam engine!
I have to double check that before I post. Perhaps Conductor Son got 844 mixed up with 3985? I always like to give benefit of doubt to someone's comments in cases like this. Jim Baker Riverside, CA |
