Steam & Excursion > UP 4014 to Hearne,Tx - then a surprise

A fun day of chasing 4014 from Dallas to Hearne where it will remain for a couple weeks before continuing to Houston.
When the engine was arriving in Hearne on the ex-SP I thought it would continue into the yard there but it went elsewhere.
It went on the connecting track to the ex-Missouri Pacific San Antonio line south and I thought - where are you going ?
It turns out the special went four miles down this line to Valley Junction. It was like a new mini excursion on new trackage for the 4014.
I was also thinking was this the first live steam on this part of the MP since - well - MP steam in the early fifties ?
Anyway here are a few shots at Valley Junction.
Looking north 4014 is coming off the San Antonio line and connecting to another ex-MP (I&GN) line and head down it a few miles to a UP yard where the engine will stay for two weeks.
Anyone feel free to add better info.
Ironically the line 4014 is headed down will be its return route north in two weeks.
After the layover in the UP yard 4014 will go back to Hearne and run on the ex-SP to Houston.
Returning north through Bryan, once again Valley Jct, Marlin, Waco to Fort Worth.
A fun hot day seeing this engine run.

Great set, Gary!  I wish I would have driven the 70 miles to Hearne to shoot it!  Wonder why they didn't just use the Giddings Sub to get to the Brazos yard.

So the 4014 is going to parallel Highway 6 for a few miles south of Hearne and then go over that bridge across Highway 6 just before entering Bryan?

That would be neat to see the Big Boy on the Bryan Sub, but UP's tracking map does not have the Bryan Sub highlighted as part of 4014's route. Has someone at UP said they're going to use the Bryan Sub?
