Steam & Excursion > East Broad Top 16 Ran Today

East Broad Top #16 was making test runs this morning.  The crew was happy with the results, and the locomotive MAY be back in service for the first weekend of October.

That's good news.

Also, they were lucky that the cracks were all
"spoke-related", rather than a crack in the center, hub.
If the hub was cracked, broken, that's a whole, catastrophic 
failure.... because of the necessary clamping-force onto the axle
would be ruined.   The new wheels are pressed onto the axles by a large
hydraulic press.... with a hole bored slightly smaller in diameter than the axle.
