Steam & Excursion > Last Day at East Broad TopDate: 09/29/24 17:48 Last Day at East Broad Top Author: MaryMcPherson We shot a few scenes today, before going for a ride.
1. 1964-built G.E. diesel M-7 pulls the train into the Orbisonia station. 2. Departing Orbisonia, the train crosses Blacklog Creek. 3. The train drops downhill on the return to Orbisonia. Riding the train included a treat, as the crew volunteered to run an extra mile down to the Rt. 475 crossing since it was the last train of the weekend. This wasn't the first time for an occupied train to go that far, but it hasn't been common... yet. I was told that trains will run past Rt. 475 next weekend and with the crew pleased with Friday's test runs, it is likely #16 will be back on the head end. Any official word should be made through the East Broad Top Facebook page. That takes time.

R-O-W? I’m presuming that pilot holes are drilled to facilitate the spring effort? Obviously they’re being repurposed from standard gauge … Anyhow, it’s impressive that the crew laying the track is enthusiastic and eager. I’m presuming that the rails have been left in place since being abandoned W. I’m sure someone here on TO has a more definitive answer.
Rails are the same ones that were left when the RR was shut down in 1956 - the ones I worked with two weeks ago were mostly from the nineteen-teens. BTW most of the tie plates and joint bars are “authentic” EBT as well. Spikes and bolts for the rail joints are new of course. Posted from iPhone |
