Monday Museum Steam: Big Boy 4023 in Omaha

Not technically a museum, but Kenefick Park does feature both a Big Boy and one of Union Pacific's largest diesels.

I have similar photos of those engines, Bill, and I only wish that I could have been there to see how they hauled those massive beasts up that extremely high hill from the main line below.

Clean, no extra paint, no "chalk" marks on the smoke box front.

Clean, no extra paint, no "chalk" marks on the smoke box front.


A lot less chrome, that's for sure.  Wonder what happened to the number boards at each side of the headlight?

It would have been classy for UP to keep 2- 4 DD40's around as passenger train diesels.  I thought they'd always keep the 6936, being it was operating.
