With #16 back in service and ideal fall weather, I decided to take my first trip out to the East Broad Top

Thanks, I have a few more shots and a nice video clip or two that I'll try to share when I get a chance. It was nice to ride behind narrow gauge steam again!  One of my first train rides was on the Durango and Silverton when I was only 4, and I remember it pretty well!  We used to also have narrow gauge steam just down the road from me in New Jersey at Allaire State Park but alas, the Pine Creek RR hasn't seen steam in over 20 years now.  Maybe someday...

Speaking of the Durango and Silverton, here's a shot of 4 year old me at Silverton back in '79!

So I don't know why I'm having trouble getting my videos to encode but here are 3 more still shots:

Wish I could smell that coal smoke in that one shot.  Throwback to my childhood-teen years.
Nice camera work and a beautiful day.

Thanks! I love that smell and it always takes me back to my childhood.  When I went to grad school at William & Mary I got a season pass to Busch Gardens where I often rode the propane fueled steam trains around the park, which is a nice experience but definitely not quite the same!

You too? EBT's coal has a little different scent than our local. That faint sulfurous haze...man, i wish we could have gone to the mountains thsi year.
