Engine #477 is one of the seven K-28 class engines requisitioned by the Army in 1942 for use on the White Pass & Yukon during WWII; all of them were scrapped following the end of the war. Meanwhile, the Rio Grande "flying" herald was introduced in 1939. So not a big window of opportunity time-wise!
