Those items disappeared really quickly from vacated engines. Date: 11/27/24 10:40 Re: Roster photos were in B&W too: SP cab forward Author: timz Looks like the KYA radio tower on the hill
at left, which would mean Bayshore. (The tower was replaced by the mast that's there now.) Date: 11/27/24 18:38 Re: Roster photos were in B&W too: SP cab forward Author: BCHellman masterphots Wrote:

Look closely above the headlight and the engine medalion is gone. Stripping has commenced Date: 11/28/24 05:58 Re: Roster photos were in B&W too: SP cab forward Author: masterphots BCHellman Wrote:

According to Strapac, it was vacated at Bayshore 5/2/57, scrapped 7/1/57 at California Metals in Pittsburg, CA Date: 11/28/24 05:59 Re: Roster photos were in B&W too: SP cab forward Author: P Tender unlettered?

After a few trips through all the snow sheds/tunnels, the tender lettering was obscured anyway. Besides, what other rail roads in North America had cab forwards beside the Southern Pacific? Curious where is the builders plate located on these engines? I see what looks like a rectangular placard spot with possible 4 mounting holes or bolts up on side of smoke box area, but it looks blank or just too dirty to tell? Jim Baker Riverside, CA Date: 11/28/24 13:03 Re: Roster photos were in B&W too: SP cab forward Author: Frisco1522 Kinda looks like the builder's plate is gone and the rectangular one is probably the Superheater Co plate.
