Midwest Railway Preservation Society is proud to announce a matching fund campaign for the restoration of GTW 4070. We have 7 donors that will match each gift up to a total of $1000.00, so a ten dollar gift will become eighty dollars!  With this generous match any gift to the 4070 fund will be not be too small!. 4070 is in the roundhouse right now and placed on the drop pit so that we can remove the pony truck to gain access in order to weld the main frame.  Lincoln Electric (lheadquartered in Cleveland) has already donated the welding rod and will supervise the welding project. MRPS has received more than $1000.00 in donations for the 4070 frame welding project so with the $7000.00 from the major matching donors we have $8000.00 for this project! A huge Thank You to all who have donated.  

We will be sending some metal samples from the frame and the old weld to Lincoln Electric for metalurgical analysis and as soon as we get those results we hope to start the frame repair.   We are organizing a second 4070 matching campaign and that money will go towards purchasing and transporting the metal which is need to reproduce the smoke box We have two sources that can roll the heavy metal that the smoke box is made from.  More details on that will be available after the holidays.
