Less than five years ago, the East Broad Top lay dormant. A train wheel had not turned for almost a decade. The track in a state of disrepair, buildings abandoned, the property dark and desolate. Mother Nature slowly reclaiming what was once hers. Time stood still.

Since then there has been a complete rebirth. Our ‘Christmas in Coal Country’ event now dominates the month of December. The spirit has returned. As well as the cheer. The vibrant color. The dreams. The abundance of smiles. And steam!

Matthew - a great set of new photos.  Thanks for sharing!  My brother and I made it back out there in early December to ride the Friday Christmas train and then visited Robertsdale again on Saturday morning.  You must still be putting on the miles between NJ and the EBT!  Happy New Year!

Beautiful collection of images, thank you for posting them.  The image of the Mennonite choir made me laugh as we have a large community of Mennonites here, mostly asssociated with farming.  Good people.
