Steam & Excursion > West Side Lumber #8 Shay at Granby, CODate: 02/21/25 08:19 West Side Lumber #8 Shay at Granby, CO Author: cozephyr West Side Lumber Company #8 Shay calls the Moffat Road Railroad Museum at Granby, CO, home these days. The Shay once ran at the Georgetown Loop RR when Lindsay Ashby was the operator. Unfortunately, the cylinder on the engineers side cracked making the Shay inoperable- too expensive to repair. Shay #8 was displayed at Cañon City, CO, for several years. The West Side Lumber Co. lettering was restored by the Moffat Road Railroad Museum. Views inside the cab and firebox.

I'm pretty sure it was behind a Shay, was No.8 operating back then?

Both are at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden these days along with a few other pieces from the Ashbys that used to operate at the Loop. West Side 9 was on loan from the Midwest Central in Mt. Pleasant, IA in more recent years. |
