NOM&C Steam Power
Author: train1275

I always like to see something different that has not crossed my radar, especially old steam power.

I thought I would share this one, New Orleans, Mobile & Chicago #42, a nice looking Pacific.

Panama Route

The NOM&C was a predecessor to the Gulf, Mobile & Northern and GM&O.

NOM&C 42 was built by Baldwin Oct. 1912.  22x28 cylinders, 69" drivers, Total Engine Weight 187,300 lbs.
Sold by the GM&N to the L&N in 1921 becoming L&N #299.
Retired October 1950

Nice.  I had never heard of the NOM&C.

Here are sisters L&N 296 at Pensacola and L&N 298 at Mobile in 1950.  Pics are from the Harold Vollrath collection on Ron Kohlin's website.
