St. l. S-W 810

No date or location or photographer noted on this print.

My best guess on location is Pine Bluff, Ark.

810 was built in Pine Bluff by St. LS-W shop forces.  It was not one of the
northerns chosen by SP to continue life out west after the Cotton Belt dieselized,
rather it was scrapped in it birthplace.

It may not have received parent SP's favor, but still a very nice engine. Those Cotton Belt 800s were very handsome locomotives. Thanks for a neat image.

Looks like the box car with the cotton boll behind the engine is used for carrying automobiles.

I always thought the tender should have been taller to balance it out, but they were very nice engines and served SSW well.

I guess 819 is a dead issue and no place to go if she was back together and serviceable. Sad.
