ORHC Plaza Project - Random Pictures
Author: Jsporseen

I limped  my way over to the ORHC yesterday and took 12 very random pictures.  Here are three of them and some more may appear later if I get in the mood.

A little contest though.  One of the pictures has an item missing that, in my opinion, is a crucial item in the whole project.  It may be obvious to somebody but it wasn't to me until this morning when I opened my photos and looked carefully at all twelve trying to decide which three to use first.  It hit me like a gentle slap in the face when I realized what was missing.  I don't why it is missing but would bet that it will be back when the whole project is finished.

Arlen knows the answer so I'm asking him to stay out of it.  Anybody else who thinks it is worth it, try to figure out what is missing that is confusing to this old man.

My guess is the number plates.

How about ladders for the semaphores?

I'll try, the tracks going into the engine house.

The answer to the difficult quiz:  if you carefully look at picture number 2 between  the Doyle McCormack enginehouse door to the newly installed fence around the turntable, there is no track.  It was there and has been used numerous times as well as the main TT entry track that comes around the east side of the building.  I'd bet that it needed to be taken out while pavers are being placed.  Don't exactly know why but can't think of any other reason.  I don't know the distance but I'm guessing around 100 feet.

Here are three more pics.  Nothing special but I hope they are of interest to some.  This a short section of track but very important I would think.

Mike6640-2 got it.  Obviously there are quite a few things that need to be accomplished before Train Day next Saturday but they seem to be making amazing progress.

I'm very impressed with the look of the walkway itself.

I'll tell ya what's missing, the box to put your quarter into to make the signals work. Hopefully it would make enough money to fund the maintenance needed to keep all of the signals operating.

Putting the ladders on the signals could be a liability because you know kids will climb them if they have the ladders on them.

My son Mason visited the museum the week before last and he was impressed with the facility and particularly the friendly volunteers. Being in the customer service business these sorts of interactions are something he looks out for.

That's a great idea.  But what's really missing is a Magnetic Flagman wigwag!  And maybe a Griswold rotating stop sign grade crossing signal.

Kids aren't the problem, railfans with cameras are the problem, they'll climb anything!

I had one picture in there twice in  the cast of nine.  Why didn't anybody tell me?  It is now down to a cast of 8.

Darn, and I spent days trying to figure out the difference between the two shots!
