ORHC - Preparing for Train Day (May 10th)
Author: Jsporseen

Train Day is tomorrow and finishing touches are being done in the Plaza Area.  I am happy to say the signals are all installed and will be operable tomorrow including the wig-wag signal.  My concern about the track from the enginehouse was unnecessary as it is back in and looks great.  The picture of that track is panoramic so acually doesn't look especially accurate but the track is there.  It will be in the next three pictures.

Three More - first is panoramic, second shows the control cabin with the handle for setting the TT brakes.  Wes Camp and I kept talking about the bridgerailings and the locking mechanisms on the bridge.  I think picture two of this series shows the locking mechnism (brakes) fairly well.

Three more.  Last two are very short film  clips showing Polson #2 setting up the train for tomorrow.  The clips were taken out the window of the Mt. Hood Brewing Company where I was having a beer with Arlen.  A real first class gentleman as he bought me the beer.

There were two guys sitting next to Arlen and I and, in the two short videos. kept calling our "Holiday Express" the "Polar Express" and neither of us bothered correcting them as they were having a lot of fun, and beer, and it really didn't seem worth it as both said they would be riding this coming season.

Now and then I refer to the Mt. Hood Brewing Company.  In the pictures with the three flag poles you can see it beyond them across the light rail tracks.  Good pizza, salads, desserts and, of course, beer.

Someone was creative in laying the walkway with the block pattern representing RR track.

I'd like to see that place.

Dumb ole me.  I took those pictures, was impressed with the two rails being represented in the walkway but didn't even notice the ties until I read Frisco1522's note about ten minutes ago.  The ties are represented in the pavers 'bigger than life'.  I walked all over them yesterday and didn't even notice, just pretty much stayed between the rails before heading to the Mt. Hood Brewing Company and having one with Arlen.

Thanks

JOHN

Great to see they have a PDX location now. I loved the trip out to the OG location in Government Camp, but it was a haul.

With Keiths permission, this is from his post on the Western Board today.  A really nice picture.  I found out that the only piece of equipment he used that I didn't was a stepladder.

Bridge locking mechanism operating when it was first installed 2 or 3 months ago.  Please excuse the angle of the film clip.
