Steam & Excursion > 3985 in Bernie MO

The train got to Bernie MO about 6 p.m., about 3 hours 'late' due to trackwork and a busy intermodal day on the line. Here's a photo at night in Bernie using a 13 second digital exposure. Everything seems to be working ok as far as I know, but I didn't talk to anyone at the train - there were hundreds waiting.

That image just screams excitement! A big locomotive, people all around, police... just really cool.

Very nice shot. Very atmospheric! The police estimated 3,000 people gathered to see the train. Not bad for a town of under 2,000 folks.

Yep, I was there in the 15 mph traffic from Dexter to Bernie! Took me over 40 minutes to make the 8 mile trip, plus I had to park 5 blocks away and walk to get those photos. I have several more. Oh yea, it was cold as a dead tick in the freezer!

Yes, from talking with my folks (in Cape Girardeau) the engine got a lot of good press (that's why we have it!) in the area. My uncle went down on Thursday PM but couldn't wait for it, so he got up early the next morning and drove the 30 or so miles from his home to see it depart. He was quite impressed!
