Steam & Excursion > And now for something almost completely differentDate: 11/13/04 18:53 And now for something almost completely different Author: WoodwardEJ Work took me to the UK this fall. As I was preparing to fly out of the Darlington area on October 2, I encountered this brick locomotive sculpture. Some research on the web told me it was constructed in 1997 and commemorates the Mallard's 126 mph run in 1938. Several other web sites will tell you more about it - for example
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dave_scott/Train.htm I wasn't sure it best fit in the Steam or International discussion, so I chose steam. Jim W. Date: 11/13/04 21:13 Re: And now for something almost completely different Author: LarryB Man!! That's one helluva lot of bricks!

Any Jethro Tull fans around here? Date: 11/15/04 10:37 Re: And now for something almost completely different Author: dhart I'm sure many thousands of years from now our ancestors will wonder what this strange thing actually is. Perhaps on a par with Stonehenge.

How long before a photo gets posted, in the Model RR forum perhaps, of that sculpture built from Lego "don't call them Legos" bricks? ;-) Neat photo, thanks for posting! * JB * Date: 11/16/04 19:33 Re: And now for something almost completely different Author: mikel Best I could come up with on short notice w/o worrying about photocopyrights on the web. This is one of many Lego train shots I took at LegoLand near San Diego earlier this year. Unfortunately they didn't have any steam running that day. :P
