Steam & Excursion > My Best of 4449 in Montana part IIDate: 11/15/04 22:04 My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: cp1400 It seems most of you can't get enough of the 4449. Here is a second selection of eleven more of my favourite shots from the trip.
First up is the 4449 charging into Bonner, Mt early in the day on Oct 11. cp1400 Date: 11/15/04 22:07 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: cp1400 Date: 11/15/04 22:08 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: cp1400 Date: 11/15/04 22:12 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: cp1400 Date: 11/15/04 22:16 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: cp1400 In a little publicized promotion, railfans could take their turn at the throttle of 4449 while she was in Billings. This was done at night to keep the chasers down on the highway. Thanks to WNICKATNIGHT for capturing me about to crack the throttle for a run to Mossmain. (Don't wory about that blue flag thing)

With liberal use of the diesel here this scene was not quite as spine tingling as the 700 was two years previous.
cp1400 Date: 11/15/04 22:24 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: cp1400 Pacing between Jens and Drummond. Thanks to wnickatnight again for steadying the steering wheel while I shot this at 1/15 sec.
cp 1400 Date: 11/15/04 22:26 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: cp1400 On a very dark, wet and grey morning the SP4449 crosses the highest bridge on the Northern Pacific, Marent Trestle.
cp1400 Date: 11/15/04 22:29 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: cp1400 Just west of Trout Creek. After performing a photo runby for the paying passengers east of Trout Creek the 4449 is back up to speed crossing one of the numerous bridges along the Clark Fork River.
All these photos are scanned from slides. Some of the details were lost in the scanning process, particularily on the dark and grey days. One of these days I'll go digital. cp1400 Date: 11/16/04 07:06 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: jcnienow Absolutely beautiful photos.....thanks for sharing... as Alan Jackson says.."Too much
of a good thing is a good thing...." you can never get too much of 4449. Date: 11/16/04 15:31 Re: My Best of 4449 in Montana part II Author: redberan4449 There ought to be a law against a grey-haired geezer having so much fun. The scenery was much more spectacular than I imagined. Thanks again for sharing these images.
