Steam & Excursion > 759 in disguise ERROR - it's a RDG T1Date: 05/08/05 05:32 759 in disguise ERROR - it's a RDG T1 Author: JPB 759 in costume for American Freedon Train. Parked on ex-DL&W main in Johnson City, NY summer of '76.
I posted the pictures and went for a 30 minute walk when my slow moving memory recalled that it was really a RDG T1. As you can see, I really did take these pictures because my memory is beginning to atrophy. Sorry for my accidental attempt at revisionist history... ![]() Date: 05/08/05 05:33 Re: 759 in disguise Author: JPB Date: 05/08/05 05:37 Re: 759 in disguise Author: JPB Date: 05/08/05 05:38 Re: 759 in disguise Author: JPB Date: 05/08/05 06:17 Re: 759 in disguise Author: 24-RL AFT #1 is ex-Reading T-1 #2101, not ex-NKP #759.
Date: 05/08/05 06:19 Re: 759 in disguise Author: NYCSTL8 These are great photos, but the engine shown is not NKP 759. She is the Reading 4-8-4 that pulled the AFT through the Northeast. NKP 759 did pull Ross Rowland's earlier effort the 1969 Golden Spike Centennial Limited.
Date: 05/08/05 06:35 Re: 759 in disguise Author: JPB Oops - thanks for the correction. I was faked out by the NKP-like number boards, visored headlight, and marker lamps. Of course, a closer look a the pilot truck would have helped...
Date: 05/08/05 07:46 Re: 759 in disguise Author: SilverSky I believe that the Preamble Express and AFT cars (four cars, as I remember) were modified RDG commuter cars.
Silver Sky Date: 05/08/05 09:47 X- Reading Observation Lounge Author: ssafy Ended up at British Columbia Railway late 70's or early
80's was painted in Canadian Pacific Wine Red livery and used occassionaly on the Royal Hudson Steam Train between North vancouver and Squamish, pulled by X-Canadian Pacific 2860 4-6-4 and pinch hitted in later years x X -CPR 2-8-0. I've ridden that car a # of times, real treat, even with 4 wheel trucks ,a real solid ride. Was done up inside in kind of a baroque style with deep lime green cushioned arm chairs. I think the interior might have been done x American Freedom train but not sure. Was off BCR's roster around 2002 or 2003 Disposition unknown. Their were around 2 or 3 sister cars as well , but to much work to figure out where they ended up.
