After the TUT special left McCloud Martin Hansen organized a small group to play with the 18 for a few hours.

Great Shots, I love that second one. What vehicle were you driving, I was actually at that 1st spot, and chasing 18 on Sunday.

One final shot. Nice low sun in the morning. Got up at 5 a.m., skipped breakfast.....sure was a loooooong time to lunch. But fun.

Alex, sorry I missed you. The first two shots of the TUT special were taken just south of Mount Shasta City at the site of the old saw mill. I was there all by myself....kept waiting for a bunch of folks to drive up. Could have used some company.

The 18 did some runbys for the TUT folks, and then sat on the wye while the two sections left town.

These shots kinda made it worth getting up at 5 a.m.

The modern McCloud, sad to be soon disappearing as a freight hauler. At least the dinner and excursions trains will survive.

Another runby in the yard. The McCloud yard is kinda a forest of poles, hard to get them out of the picture. In this photo I resorted to hiding one behind the smoke and steam....you can barely see it behind the spark arrestor. Looks as if Photoshop will have a chance to do its thing when I go back and make prints.

Nice series of shots, John. This one is my favorite. Who would have ever dreamed that you would see a Milwaukee Road Skytop Lounge and a logging Mike understeam, together, on a shortline in California in 2005!

Cheers,

Excellent shots, John. Esp. enjoyed the one of Cedar Rapids with Mt. Shasta in the background and the nice ones of the 18.
Are you still shooting slides and scanning them?

You need to get to work to post some more of your SAR stuff....those were the good old days.

Yeah, I'm still one of those dinosaurs who still uses film. Then I scan it. The only good news is I can still do slide shows with....well....slides.

Geez JB, awesome shots and kudos to you for getting up on time! Me and EspeeDad on the other hand hit snooze too many times and didn't get back to McCloud/Shasta City until 8ish. Had planned to get the 18 but opted for the ill-fated Black Widow led TUT special departure. Lesson learned, you snooze, you lose...
