Nostalgia & History > Two EngineersDate: 06/07/17 09:14 Two Engineers Author: flynn Picture 1 is of Jim Flynn and Dan Flynn in an area behind the section house at Kent [3 miles west of Wolcott]. Dan was born on March 18th, 1895 when Mr. Flynn was Section Foreman at Spruce Creek in the Glenwood Canyon. Jim was born on October 7th, 1903 when Mr. Flynn was Section Foreman at Woody Creek on the Aspen Branch. The Flynn family moved from Woody Creek to Sherwood [later called Kent] in November, 1904. Mr. Flynn died on March 3, 1905.

It is my belief that on the death of Mr. Flynn, Owen McCarthy became section foreman. Owen McCarthy was single and continued to live in the bunkhouse. This made it possible for Mrs. Flynn and her family to continue to live in the section house and for Mrs Flynn to cook for the section men and other railroaders. Mrs. Flynn continued to live in the section house until she moved to Glenwood Springs in 1923.
