Warbonnet Wednesday: in beautiful B/W!
Author: santafe199

Is there such a thing as “muscle memory” for eyesight? If so, then this is one of the most colorful B/W images I’ve seen in a long time! I dare say there is a small army of railfans here on TO that can look at this abundance of gray tones and see a splendid Red & Silver gem from Bill Gibson’s camera!

With 1000s of slides & negatives from multiple photographers still waiting to be scanned I keep stubbing my “Photoshop toe” on what I call hard luck cases. While auditing at a snail’s-pace way through the Gibson Collection I keep finding images that just beg to be posted here on TO. Here’s another black & white slide scan that took a rather large chunk of time to edit, start to finish. It’s a labor of love, I tell ya... ;^)

1a. AT&SF 164 (set?) points an unknown westbound train (#3? #5? #11?) at Topeka, KS. Photo date estimated as Late 1940s.

1b. Original scan before strapping in behind the Photoshop controls for a shade over 5 hours...
Black & white image by William A. Gibson (WAG) Sr.

Thanks for looking back twice!

What an incredible difference!  Thanks for posting.

Could it have been another football game project?  ;-)

Train #3. I rode that train to Garden City where my Aunt and Uncle from Scott City picked me up. wag216

Count me in.  I think the more you work with these old shots the better you get Lance.  That ABBA FT set looks great!
