I&GN station - Taylor,Tx
Author: gcm

July 1977
This is the 1894 built International & Great Northern (MP) station/offices in Taylor,Tx.
Taylor is 36 miles north of Austin.
This is looking east. Missing tracks show that it was a larger and busier yard at one time.
The track to the right in the distance is the main crossing the MKT.
The track curving off to the left is the connection to the Katy line -- used by the Inter-American to Temple and still used today by the Texas Eagle. The roof of the MKT depot can be seen.
Unfortunately the station didn't last much longer after I took these.

A look at the two MP GE units in the yard.

The Katy depot lasted at least into 1990 (I'd seen it from the Tx Eagle that August) but it was in sad shape.  Think it was bulldozed not too long after.

There was an I&GN freight depot just to the west of the passenger depot.
It survived into the late 1980s if not longer.

Nice pair, Gary!  Used to spend some time hanging around there back in the day.

Thanks for the look back from when the depot was there.  Quite a grand building.

Here's the scene I found there on my only visit to Texas in 2013 (pictures 3-8 of this old TO thread):

A few from around Central Texas on Monday....
