Nice set of shots. That "Never travels without camera anywhere" is a mantra I as well, live by. As ya just never know what opportunities may come along. Better to have the camera along with ya  and get that unexpected shot, than to not have it and cuss yourself out for not.  Happy New Year Lance, Ben

You're right, Lance.  This scene is typical Art being Art.  As he got older, he got more liberal with his use of Kodachrome.  In the early days, he was more stingy, cost-wise and film-wise, making sure he got "THE SHOT" and seldom went "artsy" (no, don't make a pun of that.)  We all had smaller budgets then, his more so for him and his family.  On the other hand, I was single and had a bit more disposable cash.  When we spent that long Labor Day weekend in Cheyenne in 1969, (Art, Dick Humphreys and I; see picture of us on this post:  https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,5113418,5114715#msg-5114715 ) he ran out of film and cash at the same time.  So, knowing I was a Pennsy fan, he asked me "how about I sell you my PennLine PRR Decapod kit for $20 in film money?"  I said sure before he had a chance to reconsider, but he did put conditions on it: I had to pick it up in Wichita.....and promise to build the kit.  I did both.  He got his picture cash, and his Decapod runs on my HO layout to this day.  RIP, my friend.

Great story, Ken! I learned a long time ago never to be surprised about anything Art was involved in. I remember so many times at the regular dinners at the Golden Ox in KC. My favorite memory of Art from those dinners was listening to him talking with other senior railfans about whatever. He would always say: “I’ve got a picture of xxxxxx” (whatever they were talking about). And I would just smile sitting there, knowing that there was an 80% probability that that picture was in my possession in Manhattan😆. And I hadn’t had gotten a chance to scan it out of the Gibson Collection…

Added: I also think that at one time Art met every single railfan on the planet. He knew everybody!! 😎
