Nostalgia & History > for those who like airplanesDate: 10/18/05 21:58 for those who like airplanes Author: xtra1188w Pop took this photograph in about 1926 at the Abilene Texas airfield. Back then they didn't have "airports", they had "airfields" The caption written by someone at the bottom says "West Texas Air Transport". When this was taken, these bi-planes were cutting edge aviation technology. It's hard to believe that it has been only about eighty years since then. Just think of all the changes in aviation and in all types of transportation since then.

In SAT, on the Sunset Route, there is Randolph Field, a siding across the road from Randolph AFB. And the former Kelley AFB was once Kelly Field.
