Burlington Northern caboose 10553 was sparkling clean coupled to business car RED RIVER. They were being wyed at Denver, CO, January 12, 1984. Plenty of manpower on the caboose platform.

It may be that the cars are at differing angles to each other, but the two shades of green seem different. Did the shade of "BN green" change throughtout the years? It seems like photos of older BN green vs. later have a different shade, or maybe it's just different / aged filmstock?

well  the red river was painted in the twin cities by BN and had wax protection i think, maybe with imron?   the caboose was painted by intl car co with out wax suffering UV, red river  gets much more TLC, who knows if paint laws changed  during the time.  ?

The Red River is now BNSF's Matthew K. Rose, complete with added stainless fluting.
