I like Santa Fe, but it doesn't look much different in God's Country than it does out on the left coast where all you liberals live. <g>

I reckon that their prime movers were removed, hence there wasn't any more need for fuel tanks. Here's RCU #33 at Temple Texas running in a Duval Sulphur Train. The Duval Sulphur Train ran between the sulphur mine in far west texas and the Port of Galveston.

What's happened to TonyJ, Stash, and KeyRouteKen? I haven't seen anything posted by them for quite a while now. I hope that y'all're okay. I hope that y'all ain't mad at me. Don't take my calling y'all left coast liberals too seriously, I didn't intend to hurt anyones feelings. In the era you've been posting, I suspect there was a fair bit of difference if you're into the finer points of diesel spotting. Judging from the bulk of photos I've seen, 4-axle GE's (6300's and 6600's) were rare as hen's teeth in California in the 70's, and aren't too common today. I gather that GP38's and 39-2's (3500's and 3600's) were much more common in Texas than in California, where the preference seemed to be for GP30's and 35's (3200's, 3300's, and 3400's). The Santa Fe's five cabless GP7B's spent practically their whole lives in Texas. The Lone Star State also witnessed the last stand of Santa Fe's F-units in freight service as they were gradually sucked toward Cleburne and the CF7 progam. I take that as a compliment! Keith Turley Date: 11/10/05 21:51 Re: AT&SF in Texas in the mid '70's Author: NH2006 xtra1188w Wrote:

The only thing that fence riders get are sore crotches. I'm a conservative and proud to be so. The only reason that I'm not in the John Birch Society is that they're too liberal for me. <BG> here Seriously though, we're not always right, just as liberals aren't always wrong. I think that it takes both extremes to balance things out. "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything". Con |
