SP 372 South on CSDU Load

Southern Pacific's latest power, AC4400CW's, were pressed into coal train service in the mid-1990's. The southbound CSDU (Colorado Springs Department of Utilities) coal load was operating 2x2x1 (SP 372 & 125, mid-train SP 363 & 348 and rear DPU SP 373). Train was north of Sedalia, CO, January 6, 1996 on the Joint Line as a northbound Burlington Northern hustled by at the right.

Great shot CZ! That is one of my personal favorite curves on the Joint Line. I really miss those black CSDU hoppers....almost as much as I miss the Espee power.

Shot a whole train of CSDU hoppers last year at would you believe Bluefield WEST VIRGINIA, with usual NS power. I'll bet they are still in service through there. Weird... - JLH
