MILW at N. Portland Jct in '72
Author: 3rdswitch

On Bob [ATSF100WEST] and my 1973 marathon month long trip [CA to WA to IL to CO to CA] in July '72, MILW was still very much in business the the Pacific Northwest as this northbound train was departing Portland, OR, passing through North Portland Jct.

Good stuff, thanks for posting.
Anything around Centralia or the Milw line into Tacoma? Spent some time chasing the Chehalis Western and always wondered what it looked like during the Milwaukee years.

I'm guessing that you took this shot from the porch on the side of the tower. When I was in my 30's I used to hang out with the 1st trick operator every once in a while. Back then there would be a mix of power going by at a pretty regular pace. Besides these orange crates, there was UP, NP,SP&S,GN and an occasional Burlington unit (most all except UP wearing BN numbers but home road colors)

Butch,,,,,,,,,,those were the days!

No porch on the south side of KD (the interlocking "tower"). Maybe he's just real tall.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought there was a porch and steps (that faced south) on the east side of the tower.

Butch,,,,,,,,a lot older than I'll admit to

A couple of pictures of KD - not good quality because they are captures of video note taking while doing field work on a project. Stairs are on the north side.

South side of the tower looking north.

In front of the tower looking north, showing stairs on north side of the tower.
