Nostalgia & History > MKT freight and the InterAmerican near Houston -- DecDate: 01/07/06 09:29 MKT freight and the InterAmerican near Houston -- Dec Author: gcm GP38-2 #308 at Whit siding west of Houston is eastbound as the Houston section of the InterAmerican is being rerouted on the MKT to Temple about 15 miles west of Houston. I believe the Katy only had a couple of B units at this time.
This section of the MKT (Houston-Katy) was taken out over 10 years ago. Ongoing I-10 expansion, subdivisions, shopping centers have made this spot unrecognizable today. Gary Date: 01/11/06 12:21 Re: MKT freight and the InterAmerican near Houston -- Author: BlackWidow This section of track was taken out of service on 10/15/1997 and torn up soon after to make room for I-10 expansion.
