I cabn't pinpoint the exact location, but I'd say it's somewhere around Belmont. - Tony J.

Your on the right line and yes it was a special, but for what? Anyone know? I knew when I saw your post below you'd probably know Tony! The location is almost impossible to figure out. Summer 1957... If my Dad is right. Dave Date: 01/14/06 21:51 Re: SF Bay Area Wereisit & Whatwasit 1957 Author: samreeves Me thinks they went on a sidetrip to my old hometown, Los Altos.

It did operate via the Los Altos Branch on a Sunday. Our family watched it go by from our front lawn near the station of Loyola where we lived.

General passenger agent for SP for 49 years. The shot was taken at LNDEN AVE CROSSING South San Francisco. Dave (Photo taken 3 years before I was born!) I hear there was even a derailment on Billy Jones' railroad that day. Royalties bring money to good local (steam and history) causes!

Unfortunately, the narration ridiculously stated the train was going through Niles Canyon (the excusion was called "Farewell to Age of Steam" and also "The Hansen Special" and ran on June 8, 1958).
