Quartet reminder.
Author: tomstp

In the late 1980's after D&RGW and SP got together I was very surprised in Ft Worth Tx one day to see a quartet of Rio Grande tunnel motors down here. They were on the front of a coal train headed to Houston on the SP. Man were they good looking. Every one of them looked like they had just been painted and were sparkling clean and so was the "Aspen gold and silver caboose on the rear. I've wished a million times that I had a camera with me. That was the first Rio Grande power ever to show up down here and as the years went by only once in a great while would that scene be repeated and there were not any clean units on them. And some of the Rio Grande cabooses that would show up on SP and D&RGW powered trains were really showing the age of the paint.

Ah yes, the good ole days!
