Nostalgia & History > 1957 TimebookDate: 02/02/06 18:41 1957 Timebook Author: Steamjocky Just seeing if this is worth posting. I don't think it is but I'll leave it up for a little bit before deleting it. It's too hard to read. Any ideas on how to make it more readable?

I have a few off the Coast where the phone numbers are 5 didgit or LIberty, WAlnut, WOodland, etc. Santa Barbara still used 5 didgit numbers way into the 60s. Then they added 96 for WOodland. You could finally dial out direct in 1969. And we cant forget THE number in SF, DOuglas 2-1212.

I think these books are goldmines as there is a lot of history in them. What I like is putting a locomotive at a certain place or train on a certain day. Please save it, thanks. Got anything that goes back a couple more years, like with steam? Thanks for sharing this, Tom Date: 02/02/06 20:51 Re: 1957 Timebook Author: sploopconductor Mr. "VaporJock":
John, looks ok to me also... get your eyes checked ... or, open them! Take Care, Stay Safe, Have Fun! Larry P.S.: I vote to keep it UP... oop's ... up. (sorry) Date: 02/02/06 21:09 Re: 1957 Timebook Author: Steamjocky Nitehostler Wrote:

Maybe the Oregon or Shasta Divisions. I know it doesn't have many entries. I'll see if I can find it. JE Date: 02/03/06 10:06 Re: 1957 Timebook Author: spnudge I have one that belonged to a brakeman/Conductor friend of mine back in the 50s or 60s. Hegave me that and his switch keys when he retired. I will see if I can find it when I get home in March.
