All my references are LW-era. Nothing on a RDG 3000 series. What type of car? Bob Date: 02/04/06 10:18 King Coal Author: FullService Wasn't King Coal the name of the evening express that left out of Reading Terminal for Reading / Pottsville in the late 60's / early 70's? They were usually a pair of GP7's or FP7's.
Date: 02/06/06 20:47 Re: King Coal Author: KINGCOAL505 Yes, sir and it departed at 5:05 P.M. on Track #1.
"The King Coal Express now boarding on Track 1. Train stops at North Broad Street, Norristown, Phoenixville, Royersford, Pottstown, Reading, Schuylkill Haven and Pottsville. Watch Your Step Please" Fond memories when both F7 units were back to back upfront, not push-pull. Thank You Grandmom for taking me on this train so many times. RIP. By the way "The Schuylkill" departed prior to the King Coal at 4:20 and stopped at intermediate stations like Valley Forge, Birdsboro, Hamburg etc. Often it was pulled by RS-3's occasionally even a 800# series FM Trainmaster. Enjoy. Date: 02/06/06 20:51 Re: Reading Co Passenger Train Author: KINGCOAL505 Gosh, Bob, I don't know. I saw 3000 series Reading Coaches on an internet Site Reading Company Roster. I know that I personally never saw them myself. Crusader/Wall Streeter equipment possibly? Jim

It was 4000 not 3000 series and here is part of the 1945 roster of Reading Company Passenger Equipment provided by Reading Company Historical Site. They apparently had a sleeper called "Ottawa".
