When I worked for the Rock Island, one of the road engineers had grown up in Shattuck Ok. According to him, when it rained 40 days and 40 nights, Shattuck got a quarter of an inch! In the middle of the night caught the east bound fast mail out of Amarillo to Shattuck and then waited for the west bound SF Chief back to Amarillo. Great adventure.
