This was the excursion operated over Altamont then back up the Mococco thru Byron to Oakland.

It had something to do with the V&T under construction. The other was the April Rio Vista Limited from San Jose to Sacramento and Susiun-Fairfield to San Jose.

We went down to 16th Street station that morning just to see it off, and they had a couple of extra seats. Dad made a spur of the moment decision and we were off on a memorable trip! I believe it had 5 F-units for power. I remember he put up an impressive cloud of smoke going under Hiway 17 as he throttled up out of Jack London Square.
I'd love to see more pictures of this excursion if you have them. Thanks. I would love to see more photos from that run too...
