More GG1 Memories
Author: bandob

Early 1980's. I was up at Philadelphia a few weeks ago and discovered the big new parking facility over the tracks. I didn't have time to explore, but I wonder if there spots in it to get photos today?

Those puppies lasted a very long time, anyone know how old, like 40-50 years?

The GG1's were built from 1934-1943 and remained in service until 1983 I believe. 4901 was built in 1940 and 4914 in 1942, unfortunately both were scrapped. Yes, PRR and its successors got their money's worth out of the GG1's.
