Nostalgia & History > Long line of locomotives....Date: 04/12/06 22:19 Long line of locomotives.... Author: NscaleMike I don't recall the specifics of this shot...other then it was January 1984, just south of Dayton Tower...in Los Angeles... Not sure if this SD-7 was pulling a line of dead locos...to salvage/scrap or something else.

Always found it hard to stop and photograph trains down there by the bridges next to San Fernando Blvd. Might be a move from Taylor to WC or to Dolores? hmm, judging by the power trailing back there, Cadillacs, SD45's and GP9E's all in good paint/condition, I'd say these are all "LIVE" units on a light (heavy) power transfer. Date: 04/13/06 07:07 Re: Long line of locomotives.... Author: dcfbalcoS1 I agree, in 1984 I doubt these would be going to the scrapper. They all look quite good so it is probably a power move.

Thanks, Mike, for posting that! I needed that transfusion of that good ol' scarlet and gray that I am getting very low on these days. All that MOTIVE POWER - does me heart good to see that!...:) Margaret (true "scarlet-and-gray" [not blue!] SP fan!) Date: 04/14/06 09:33 Re: Long line of locomotives.... Author: sploopconductor ... Just a 'over-powered' yard job!
