Old BN Power Tacoma

Crossing a street I no longer remember the name for, here's a cross-section of first generation power on the BN in Tacoma in August of 1979.

Enjoy.

Good old train 139!! That brings back some memories. Tacoma sure doesn't look like that anymore.

Dock Street now stays on the N side of the tracks over to D Street. The crossing now is A street if I recall correctly. In the first pix the right foundation for the signal bridge is still in place..probably will be removed for the new track work tho.

Not the best of photos, but here's 139 with some real old power. Taken at UP Junct. in the winter of 1970/1971. Have a number of shots of Quincy/SP&S/WP power on 138/139 taken around the Dock Street/UP Junct. areas. Will have to scan them one of these days.

Wow, Mr. Burwash,
I had heard that you were an old-timer, but there's some confurmation of that right there in that photograph. Amazing stuff. Too bad you didn't shoot that in color (g).
